Density of PA (Polyamide/Nylon)

2026-02-02 11:25:20 Plastic mold manufacturer

The density (specific gravity) of PA resin is an industry-recognized standard physical parameter. Commonly known as nylon, it is the most widely used crystalline engineering plastic, with PA6 and PA66 as the main grades, tested in accordance with international standards such as ASTM D792 and ISO 1183.

Density varies slightly across different grades and modified types of PA, with all values being industry-recognized measured data:

Pure PA6: 1.12~1.14 g/cm3, typical value 1.13 g/cm3

Pure PA66: 1.13~1.15 g/cm3, typical value 1.14 g/cm3

Glass fiber-reinforced PA6 (10%~30% glass fiber): 1.20~1.40 g/cm3, with higher glass fiber content leading to greater density

Glass fiber-reinforced PA66 (10%~30% glass fiber): 1.22~1.42 g/cm3, with higher glass fiber content leading to greater density

Flame-retardant PA: 1.15~1.30 g/cm3, with halogen-free flame-retardant systems showing smaller density increases than halogenated systems

Inorganic-filled PA: 1.18~1.35 g/cm3, with higher filler ratios leading to greater density

This density parameter is a core reference for the design of automotive parts, electronic connectors, and industrial gears. Density changes after modification directly affect product weight and mechanical properties, and it is also an important reference for mold design and injection process parameter setting.
